Maja will talk about the process of wheel throwing, altering and hand building, and some aspects of her experiments with glazes. During her two-day presentation at the ICAC, Maja will cover the basics of her making process that includes throwing on the wheel, altering and hand building. She will also concentrate on complex forms like covered jars and teapots. The first day, Maja will throw the parts, and make clay extrusions that will be assembled on the second day, into teapots or other composite vessels. While the clay is drying for the next stage, she will do a slide show of her work, as well as historical and contemporary influences that determine her aesthetic approach to pottery. Maja will also talk about the surface decoration process, and show the images of the glaze effects using layer-ing of different slips, engobes and glazes.
